Block Prints

I learned techniques of carving and hand-printing from my mother, grandmother, and my mentor Ruthie. We drew on a block of wood, linoleum, rubber, or a potato, then carefully carved out the negative space. After pulling several proofs to test how it looked, we’d print a small batch, one by one, in oil or water-based ink and lay them out to dry for a day or two. Each print is unique.
